What it is

Fang Yuan is a demonic cultivator, and the novel refuses to let that be a costume. It stops the action to ask the question directly.

For what was the Demonic Path?

Chapter 1, paragraph 21

The chapters have not closed that question. What they have given is what it means in practice: a man who slaughtered tens of millions to finish one Gu, cornered by a coalition that calls itself righteous.

What its followers expect

The path is not only violence; it is an ambition with a shape.

As long as he played his cards well, roaming the mortal realm and recreating his former glory as a demonic overlord and ruthless hegemon would be no problem at all

Chapter 2, paragraph 14

Why it matters

The Righteous Path is introduced as a mob and the Demonic Path as a question, and that inversion is deliberate. The novel is not interested in which side is good. It is interested in what a person is willing to spend, and it opens with a man who spent tens of millions of lives on one insect, and does not regret it.
